Prayer in the Rain

Prayer, Scripture Talk

As autumn rain falls hard and summers’ last petals fall to soggy ground, rejoice! rejoice! for God holds the watering can. When you are lost and cannot find your heart’s way, look up! look up! for God knows your purposed route.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

~ Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)

Lord God,
You are not the author
of confusion,
but the Creator of clarity.

You are not the maker
of discontent,
but the Designer of discernment.

Lead us this day
with clarity of
our thoughts and judgments.

Lead us this day
with discernment of
our wants versus Your needs.

Father, make the desires
of our hearts
to be in perfect line
with Your will
for us.

Please give us
an unquenchable yearning
to seek You
at every step,
at every decision.

Lord God,
grant us wisdom to seek,
recognize,
and do
Your will.

We ask this
in Jesus’ precious name,
amen.

  1. I tried to copy and paste the beautiful prayer to my Documents/Bible Verses and Prayers folder, but of course, I could not. Do I have your permission to type in out just the way you have written it, so that I may save it?Thank you so much,Jean Kraft

  2. Yes ma'am, you may copy the prayer. It is quite simply the result of a confused mind and heart that are seeking God's will. I wrote this during my quiet time with the Lord this morning while the rain pounded and night gave way to morning.May God shine His Truth on you Jean!Blessings.

  3. These words get the week started off just right. The image of water – living water – is rich here. And then I read your comment about writing during the rain. Yes…He sends the rain…

  4. "the wisdom to seek his will" I think that's where I fall short. Thanks for the reminder and this beautiful prayer. I might copy it too if you don't mind.Jeff

  5. What a beautiful prayer, thank you for sharing it. It is with this humble attitude of surrender that God can be the strongest. Andie

If you have somethin' to say, I reckon this is where you should do it. (If you're a newbie hereabouts, your first comment will be held for approval - cuts down on spam.) Thank ye for chatting!
