Talking Psalm 85

Scripture Talk

Mercy and truth have met together;
Righteousness and peace have kissed.

~ Oh Lord, I have felt that. Right in my heart. But I wonder why it is a fleeting sensation? Why must other stuff crowd out all that is of You? If I am fully Yours, wouldn’t I do every single thing I could to encourage the beautiful relationships of Mercy & Truth and of Righteousness & Peace?

Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.

~ Indeed! I have tasted Your Truth and it is cool and sin-quenching and better than the liquid of any babbling brook or trickling spring. Your Living Water fills my soul. And it reflects all that righteousness from heaven. I just have to stop, humbly bend low, and drink until fully saturated.

Yes, the LORD will give what is good;
And our land will yield its increase.

~ I am new in You. You give what is good and see us through what is not. If my land is littered with nonsense and the seeds I plant are rubbish, indeed I will produce a crop of it. To the contrary, if my land is watered with Your Mercy and Truth and I plant Grace and Love, I will produce a crop of that. I prefer the latter. And I reckon You do too. Oh Lord, help me to nourish others and make blooms burst with love wherever I am planted.

Righteousness will go before Him,
And shall make His footsteps our pathway.

~ Instead of looking back, help me Father God to follow in the tracks You continue to set for me. Instead of fearing the cliff’s edge, help me to stay secure on Your path, for it is the very trail on which I yearn to walk. Lord, when I see Mercy & Truth holding hands, allow me to walk on the path with them while I rejoice! When Righteousness & Peace are kissing, let me be filled with such a splendid Love too. And God, please don’t let anything behind me rob me of what is ahead!

~ Psalm 85:10-13 (NKJV)
