How Do You Decide?

I don’t wanna pick a fight. I just wanna know… as Christians, united by Christ to the very God of our salvation, how do you decide your vote?

.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:1-10 (NKJV)

.

My choice is based on a value system.
Said value system has a whole lot to do with the Word of God.

.
.
For example, in Genesis, among other things, we learn about creation. And the union of 1 man & 1 woman. (I reckon this combo unit is pro-life because it creates life; it moves life forward).
.
In this first book of the Bible, we also learn that God created those two people in His own image. (pssst, we are created to be like Him).
.
Then if we wanna know more about life and the womb, we can skip ahead to Psalm 139:13-16. (we, yep, you and I, are wonderfully made)

So, if you are a born again Christian, how do you decide who gets your vote? If it’s not values that align with the Bible, what then do you use? (I’m just trying to understand.).
.
One sister in Christ recently told me to “be quiet about all this pro-life stuff.” And another asked how I could use God’s biblical examples as a measuring stick; she said that’s what’s wrong with Christians today.
.
Huh?
.
Well, even though both of those instances confused me, I answered them to the best of my ability. I hope I was respectful in doing so — I always try to be as I share my heart and point out the facts. So, why doesn’t anyone answer me when I ask?
.

Yipers folks. You don’t lose my respect by asking me questions, or even by disagreeing with my stance, you lose my respect by pretending that I don’t exist.
.
.
* Please know that my concluding question and statement are both rhetorical in nature.
Nonetheless, if it suits your fancy, do feel free to (respectfully and kindly) provide an answer.

  1. Politics is a hard game. I know just enough to know that it’s not a pretty game. It is not so much a matter of what the candidate promises or stands for, there is a lot that happens behind closed doors. When one or the other gets into office, he is a puppet to the majority in power.

So look at it this way. Who will be the most likely to be in power depending on which party’s man gets elected. And what are they likely to do with that power.

    • Thanks, miss Nancy, for your insight. Yep, it has everything to do with power… will someone come alongside and help or stand out front directing traffic according to their whim and fancy?

Thankfully, the Lord God reigns over all.

      Blessings.

      • There are people that do nothing but study this stuff. And they probably think that they know what’s going on. But, they don’t.
Like you said, we know who reigns over all. All the other is mainly human-scrambling for worldly gain.

I decide the very same way you do my dear friend. I don’t know any other way. I am so heartsick over some of the things I have read recently. I keep praying, “Lord don’t let me ever compromise Your truth.” Thank you for the courageous, faithful stand you take. Don’t you dare ever change!

      • Miss Linda and Miss Patricia –

Thank you ladies. I’m so blessed to know that we stand shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart, and soul to soul on these matters. Deceit is running rampant but our value system never shall change.

        Blessings.

With you on those Bible verses. Also posting about this on Monday.

  4. Well, we’ve talked on this one before…I decide the same way you do. It has not been fun. I’ve never been so scared over an election before, or so sad, or so aware that I need to be reliant on the fact that no matter who’s in office God is in charge.

    • Miss Erica,

Indeed, it’s a tough-n-rough row to hoe this time around. Don’t you dare be afraid, don’t give that nasty enemy a foothold. Boot him to the curb and cling to God. As my favorite radio gal (Janet Parshall of Moody Radio) often says, “What an amazing time to be alive!”

God put us here in America, right now, and for a reason. Keep living the life Christ sets before you ’cause you shine Light, girl!

      BLessings.

Thankful for both your post and Glynn’s post on this. It’s not an easy year.

If you have somethin' to say, I reckon this is where you should do it. (If you're a newbie hereabouts, your first comment will be held for approval - cuts down on spam.) Thank ye for chatting!
