Before I had ears

Before I could speak

My eyes still shined to Your face so sweet

Yes, You called out my name –

You called out my name.

1216sd

And as I grew

I breathed You

Yes, You were all around

1205sd

I can still taste the sound

when You called out my name –

You called out my name.

1220sd

As my own voice grew

Sometimes I drowned You out

1215sd

And I called out Your name –

I called out.

* Lyric bits from Jubilee’s “I Called Out Your Name,”

one of my all-time favorite songs from “A non-profit abolitionist band.”

* Photo-prompt by the fine folks at TweetSpeak Poetry:

Find an old baby photograph, and artfully arrange it among a few items. What do you see through your viewfinder? Consider using creative filters to give your photo an antique finish. Snap.

Actually, here is Jubilee’s performance. You can skip to 44 seconds to begin if you fancy, but you must crank the volume, stand up, sway, keep the beat as you tap your jean-clad thigh, dance, and raise your hands to the Creator of you and me and everyone between.
