On the Line

A Story, country life, TweetSpeakPoetry PhotoPrompt

When I round the

bend I’ll look up

where our ridge line

kisses the morning

sky. You’ll fly

bareback on a steed. As long,

black hair

whips wild, you’ll chase

the train.

I’ll wave, but you won’t

see

me.

And if you

cry, I’ll not

know.

At the barn, you’ll

find this note

nailed

thought

to the door:

Dear Momma –

wipe your eyes, look

beyond the house –

toward the ridge. See

the quilt I made?  You best

remember love

is always

on the line.

Love it… the surprise at the end is delicious. No. Wait. It’s soft and crisp and colorful.

If you have somethin' to say, I reckon this is where you should do it. (If you're a newbie hereabouts, your first comment will be held for approval - cuts down on spam.) Thank ye for chatting!
