Education and Its Development
Education is the process of educating people, either through schooling, informal education, family education, guidance and counseling, or other processes. Educational systems include guided learning, teaching, classroom instruction, interactive learning, and storytelling. Education includes all the processes that make a person learn and grow. The most important factors that determine the quality of education include instructional design, resources available to educators, parental support, curriculum, facilities available in the educational setting and attitudes of the students.
With the availability of technology in almost everything, higher education institutions have begun providing distance education courses. Distance education refers to accredited courses offered by post-secondary institutions. With the increasing popularity of the internet, distance education has also gained popularity. This system enables learners to gain knowledge from their computers at any time and place. The main advantages of distance education are flexibility, greater control over the timing and workload, reduced costs and increased professional growth.
One of the benefits of distance education is that there is no physical presence; therefore the students in informal courses can pursue the course whenever they find time. They can even take the course on their vacations as well. This reduces the costs and increases the productivity of the students. Online college courses offer large opportunities for professionals who cannot attend conventional universities due to various reasons. However, it is advised to check with a proper accreditation agency before pursuing online degree programs.
